By signing this pledge, you promise not to give your child a smartphone until at least 8th grade as long as at least 10 families total from your child’s grade and school pledge. If you would like your child to have a basic phone that just calls and texts, you still can sign the pledge! The basic phone avoids many of the distractions and dangers of the smartphone.
Once 10 families have pledged, you will be notified that the pledge is in effect! Wait Until 8th will email you and the other parents who have signed from your grade to let you know the families on board the active pledge for your child's grade. This helps you to support one another. There is strength in numbers!

We will not share your information with any third party outside of our organization. Your information will not be made public on this website.
Tips for Signing the Pledge
To sign the pledge, your child must be in at least kindergarten. Please do not sign the pledge yet if your child is only in preschool. If you would like a reminder email to sign the pledge when your child is entering elementary school, please sign up here.
Please sign up each of your children in elementary school or middle school. To add another child to a pledge form, please select “add another student” on the form.
Since pledges are organized by schools, it is very important to identify the correct school in our database when filling out the pledge form. To find your child’s school in our database, type one or two key words from the school name and hit the magnifier icon on the form. Avoid words such as “the,” “elementary,” “middle,” “junior,” and “school.”
If you cannot find your child’s school or next school, there is a place on the form to enter the school’s name. Please be as specific as possible here and avoid any acronyms.
On the pledge form, we ask for your child’s current school and next school. Please enter the current school your child attends and please list the next school your child will attend such as an upper elementary school, intermediate school, junior high school, middle school or high school.
Wait Until 8th is only taking pledges from the United States. We hope to expand in the future but do not have the resources at this time.
